A. Actually the best remedy for an overly squared jaw is Botox. It will relax the masseter muscle and soften the line, making your squared face look more like an oval or heart (and most consider that more feminine). It may also improve any TMJ symptoms you may have from jaw clenching.

Q. Is It Safe to Have Botox on Anti Depressants?

A. Yes, it is safe. In fact, there is data to suggest that Botox may have a mild anti-depressant action in some patients. Anecdotally, I did see this effect in my depressed patients after hurricane Katrina and the levee breach failure caused the flooding of my city.

Q. I'm thinking of getting botox for my brow ptosis as I'm starting to get horizontal lines in my forehead and almost daily headaches to the front of my head from keeping my eyebrows lifted (otherwise the droop bothers me and feels heavy on my eyes). I've been trying to do some research as to whether this is a good alternate to surgery since it's not all that bad yet and am finding conflicting answers. My main concern is that the botox will make it worse. Would it help?

A. The answer is complicated, but briefly, if Botox is done in a certain pattern and the frontalis muscle in NOT injected. you can get a nice brow lift. It likely, however, will NOT improve the horizontal lines and there is no guarantee it will improve the headaches. To get the lift the procerus and obicularis must be injected and this will not help those lines. You might have to choose between lift or line improvement, or else get the brow lift to get both.
