Q. How long will Botox last?

A. The effect can vary from one individual to another, but most find the improvement lasts 4 months.

Q. have very deep horizontal forehead lines. I have heard about Botox for the frown or "11's", but can Dysport or Botox be used for other deep lines? My forehead is very high and these lines make me look old. I am a 35 year old male.

A. Dysport would be ideal for you. After a couple of years of trial and error with optimal doses and dilutions, we are now seeing Dysport results that rival Botox results. In fact, for men with high foreheads, Dysport is actually my favorite. I combine the glabellar (the 11's) and the frontalis (the horizontal lines) at the same time for best synergy of results.

Q. I'm thinking of getting botox for my brow ptosis as I'm starting to get horizontal lines in my forehead and almost daily headaches to the front of my head from keeping my eyebrows lifted (otherwise the droop bothers me and feels heavy on my eyes). I've been trying to do some research as to whether this is a good alternate to surgery since it's not all that bad yet and am finding conflicting answers. My main concern is that the botox will make it worse. Would it help?

A. The answer is complicated, but briefly, if Botox is done in a certain pattern and the frontalis muscle in NOT injected. you can get a nice brow lift. It likely, however, will NOT improve the horizontal lines and there is no guarantee it will improve the headaches. To get the lift the procerus and obicularis must be injected and this will not help those lines. You might have to choose between lift or line improvement, or else get the brow lift to get both.
