Dysport

Dysport treatment before and after When the signs of aging become noticeable, both men and women may find themselves feeling insecure with their appearance. Fine lines, wrinkles, and folds on the face can make patients look much older than they feel both physically and emotionally. After a consultation with Dr. Mary Lupo at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology in New Orleans, patients can learn about the ways to tackle the unwanted signs of aging. While it is impossible to stop the process, it can be slowed with cosmetic treatments such as Dysport injections.

Approved by the FDA in 2009, Dysport has helped millions of Americans regain their confidence by reducing the signs of aging. Dysport is a medication developed from botulinum toxin A, which is used to reduce muscle contractions. When injected into specific muscles of the face, including the forehead and frown lines, Dysport can help smooth the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and folds.

Unlike traditional plastic surgery, Dysport does not involve anesthesia, cutting of the skin, or extensive time off from work and daily activities for recovery. Patients can be treated with Dysport in our office and go about the rest of their day without any downtime. This is an amazing anti-aging solution for adults who are ready to take charge of their appearance once and for all.

What is Dysport? - explained by Dr. Mary Lupo
Dysport is another neuromodulator that came after botox. If you are someone who is looking to get rid of the wrinkles on your face, Dysport might be what you are looking for. Watch the video to learn more on Dysport offered by Dr. Mary Lupo at Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology.

What is Dysport?

Dysport is another neuromodulator that came after botox. I have some patients in my practice who had felt that dysport works a little bit better for them. Either it kicks in quicker or lasts a little bit longer.

But the major differentiator of dysport is that it has a greater area of diffusion. Greater area of diffusion means that from the spot you inject it, it spreads a little bit more. Now this can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the patient.

What is the use of Dysport?

The use of Dysport, Botox, Jeuveau and Xeomin, the message should be to patients is that, talk to your physician and make sure that your physician knows and understands the differences between these products.

And they are not using the same one on everyone, that they do individualize the treatment and understand the differences in the neuromodulator so that when they do inject then they going to get the best possible outcome for each individual patient.

Before any treatment, Dr. Lupo meets with potential patients and performs an extensive medical background evaluation to determine who is the proper candidate for Dysport injections. She may also recommend other procedures such as dermal fillers or laser resurfacing treatments in order for patients to benefit from overall anti-aging rejuvenation. Dysport is a competitor for Botox. It is what we call a neuromodulator. And what Dysport does is it blocks the receptor where the neuro transmitter attaches to cause the muscle to have its movement. So, it’s a blockade if you .. So, Dysport is a competitor for Botox, another competitor for Botox is called Xeomin. And Xeomin is another ... toxin that works at the neuro receptor. It acts as a blockade and what it does is, it blocks the action of the chemical neurotransmitter at the level of the neuromuscular junction and it blocks the action of the nerve to the muscle, so the muscle does not move this much. What Botox, Dysport and Xeomin do is improve lines that are caused by muscle movement. So, there are excellent choices for frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. But, what a lot of people don’t realize is neuromodulators can be very very important in the lower face. We can use it for people who have excessive lip pursing, we can use it for people who clench and grind their jaw and this results in high... of which is called the ... muscle which gives the lower face a very heavy look and a very squared look, which is not an ideal look for a woman. It can also be used for a dimple chin and it is also used in the neck to give a lift to the jawline. So the Botox, Dysport and Xeomin options give us another nonsurgical, non-invasive tool to shape the face and to refine the lines and wrinkles and sagging of the face.

Avoid these medications for at least two weeks prior to injections: Aspirin or Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, “G” supplements (ginko, ginseng, garlic), St. John's Wort and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like Celebrex, as they may cause thinning of the blood.

Review From Tiffany S.
Dr. Lupo is absolutely amazing! I saw her for botox and filler before my wedding and now I am a devotee of her work. She is a master at accomplishing a natural looking and beautiful result. She has an artist's eye and a surgeon's calm hands. She is personable, kind, and funny, and I always find myself 100% at ease in her office. It is easy to be candid with her and ask for exactly what you want. She is honest and takes the time to communicate with you to make sure you're both on the same page, and you don't feel like she is running in and out of the room and rushing off to another appointment. She gives you her full attention and it makes a world of difference. I highly recommend Dr. Lupo to all my friends and family. Wonderful woman and doctor. Couldn't be happier!
