A: No microdermabrasion for you! While both microdermabrasion and IPL photofacial help dark spots, the IPL photofacial will improve the telangiectasia (broken capillaries), but the microdermabrasion will be too traumatizing to your thin skin and cause even MORE vascular dilation and resulting broken capillaries.
Q: How soon after Intense Pulsed Light treatment can I go in a tanning bed?
A: I do not understand why you would want to pay for a treatment that improves the appearance of sun-damaged skin, and then turn right around and do the one thing that will undo all you paid for! Unnecessary ultraviolet light exposure increases your risk of skin cancers, wrinkles and dark spots. IPL seems to improve the cosmetic problems (I am unaware of any evidence that IPL reduces that skin cancer risk). I would suggest you forget about tanning, or forget about IPL. If you get an IPL, it is recommended that you use a sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher. But I make that recommendation for all my patients, not just those getting IPL.
