Skin Cancer Treatment from Dr. Mary Lupo, Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology
At the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology, patients have access to a variety of medical and cosmetic skin care solutions. Concerns such as skin cancer are also treated by our team of professionals. There are several types of skin cancer, so educating one’s self about these types can help you understand the results of a biopsy by Dr. Mary Lupo.

Skin cancer types

There are several types of skin cancer that are diagnosed with a biopsy at our practice. Dr. Mary Lupo, our Board-certified dermatologist, will educate patients on the results of their biopsy and what treatment is best for their specific diagnosis. Below are the most common types:
  • Basal cell carcinoma cancer – basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in the basal cells. It is typically seen as a lump or brown patch on areas that have received extensive sun exposure, specifically the neck and face.

  • Squamous cell carcinoma cancer – this cancer develops quickly on the outermost layer of skin. It is one of the varieties of cancer typically seen in her practice and the most treatable. It is often a result of overexposure to sunlight and appears as a patch, ulcer, or lump on the skin.

  • Melanoma skin cancer – melanoma is the deadliest variety of skin cancer. It is typically diagnosed around moles that have changed or grown over time. This is because it attaches to the pigment-producing cells.

Therapies

Treatment options for skin cancer include:
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation
  • Surgery (excision or Mohs micrographic)
  • Medications

Review From Casey C.
I’ve been injected by several physicians over the years and Dr Lupo is the best. She gave me an eyebrow lift with filler and it looks like I had surgery.
