A t the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology, patients in and around the community of New Orleans, Louisiana, have many options when it comes to facial injections. Our certified injector, Dr. Mary Lupo, has the experience to ensure you get the desired results from your aesthetic services. Below are several frequently asked questions about our facial injections to consider!
Neuromodulators, like Botox, Jeuveau and Dysport, are wrinkle-relaxing treatments made from botulinum toxin. They temporarily block nerve signals to the targeted muscles, preventing them from contracting and creating dynamic wrinkles like crow’s feet and frown lines. This results in a smoother, more refreshed-looking you!
Hyaluronic acid (or HA) dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm, Restylane, Belotero, Versa, RHA collection, are gel-like substances that add volume to the skin. They plump lips, soften smile lines, and contour cheeks or jawlines. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, it integrates beautifully with your skin for a natural look.
Sculptra is described as a unique type of injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid. Instead of immediately adding volume like fillers, Sculptra gradually stimulates your body’s natural collagen production. It is a fantastic option for areas like the cheeks or temples if you want long-lasting results that improve over time.
Yes, it is! Kybella is an injectable treatment specifically designed to reduce submental fat (aka the dreaded double chin). It contains deoxycholic acid, which breaks down fat cells. Over a series of treatments, you can achieve a more sculpted jawline with no surgery required.
The duration varies based on the kind of injection. Generally, neuromodulators remain effective for about three to four months, whereas hyaluronic acid fillers can last between six months and two years, depending on the specific product. Sculptra results can last over two years with proper maintenance, and Kybella results are permanent once the fat cells are destroyed.
Most of our patients describe the sensation as minor and tolerable—like a little pinch. Dr. Mary Lupo and her team use a topical numbing cream or lidocaine in the injection to keep you comfortable.
When performed by our qualified and experienced provider, cosmetic injections are generally very safe. Side effects, like mild swelling or redness, are typically temporary. Choosing a trusted medical professional like ours is key to safely achieving beautiful, natural-looking results.
Injectable treatments are great for anyone looking to smooth wrinkles, restore lost volume, enhance facial features, or address specific concerns like a double chin. A consultation with Dr. Mary Lupo helps to determine the best treatments for your unique goals. Remember, beauty isn’t one-size-fits-all, and customizing a treatment for your needs is critical to the best results.
