Dr. Skylar Souyoul is a board certified dermatologist who practices the full range of medical, surgical and aesthetic dermatology and a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Louisiana State University Health Science Center. She was born and raised in the Midwest but fell in love with New Orleans while receiving her Bachelor of Science Management undergraduate degree in finance from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 2007. She went on to graduate from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Souyoul completed her internal medicine internship at Tulane Hospital before entering the dermatology program at Louisiana State University Health Science Center where she served as chief resident in her final year. During her training, Dr. Souyoul studied under several cosmetic and medical dermatologists and worked closely with Dr. Lupo to learn the “Lupo Method” for cosmetic injections and laser procedures. She has also worked with the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to provide free skin cancer screenings across Southeast Louisiana. Upon completing her dermatology training, she was awarded the Fred Brandt Memorial Scholarship Award for excellence in aesthetic achievement during residency training.
Dr. Souyoul enjoys the variety of dermatology from routine skin exams and complicated medical cases to cosmetic injectables and laser treatments. She has interest in treating skin cancers, lesions, psoriasis and acne, while also working with her aesthetic patients to reverse and slow down the aging face. She understands the Lupo Method that a more youthful appearance is a process, not just a procedure, so she is well versed in Botox, the Juvederm family of fillers, Kybella, Dysport, the Restylane family of fillers, Sculptra, Xeomin, Belotero and Radiesse as well as chemical peels, lasers and devices to provide her patients with optimal results.
Dr. Souyoul uses her knowledge and experience to publish articles in academic journals and present at dermatological meetings. She also participates in clinical research trials for the FDA approval of medical and cosmetic dermatological treatments. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the Louisiana Dermatological Society.
Dr. Souyoul is enjoying life in New Orleans with her husband and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys long distance running, cooking and skiing.
