New Orleans, LA area patients who are interested in enhancement of the skin have a variety of options available to them at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology. Our professionals, Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Mary Lupo and Dr. Skylar Souyoul, offer a number of treatment options, including IPL and vascular laser services to improve the skin’s texture, tone, and overall health.

IPL explained

IPL, which stands for intense pulsed light, is a non-laser treatment. It is sometimes called a fotofacial or “photorejuvenation.” This light therapy is used in short bursts to treat a variety of conditions, or for overall skin rejuvenation. It can also aid in stimulating collagen production to improve the overall texture of the skin. Dr. Lupo was the first doctor in Louisiana to offer this facial rejuvenation technology in 1999.

Vascular laser treatments explained

Another solution available in our practice is vascular laser treatments. Vascular lasers are used in the treatment of blood vessels. They are a wonderful way of addressing spider veins and varicose veins, which may be visible and embarrassing for patients. They are one of many lasers available at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology.

Treatment options

IPL and 532/1064 vascular laser treatments can be used for the following purposes:

  • Spider and varicose veins
  • Unwanted hair
  • Facial veins
  • Skin discoloration
  • Acne scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Rosacea
  • Skin rejuvenation

What should I expect with IPL and vascular laser therapies?

Vascular lasers are used in the treatment of blood vessels. Most patients are able to undergo these treatments without any downtime or recovery. This makes them a wonderful solution for those who have a busy schedule and may need to visit our practice during their lunch hour. Treatment sessions are short and comfortable, and allow patients to return to their day with little interruption. Drs. Mary Lupo and Skylar Souyoul consult with patients prior to their treatments to help them fully understand what they can expect before, during, and after their procedures.

How many treatments do I need?

Most patients will see results following one treatment, though we do recommend a series of treatments spaced weeks apart in order to get optimum improvement. We encourage patients to ask about how many treatment sessions they may need to get a more accurate estimate of the cost of the total treatment. Some patients, once they improve their skin, will continue to have treatments done on a regular basis to maintain their appearance.

Is IPL and vascular laser treatment right for me?

Most patients who have skin concerns can benefit from one or the other. IPL and vascular laser treatment are known for improving a number of different conditions at once, targeting a variety of problems with just one inexpensive treatment. Most patients find that by simultaneously treating several problems, they are able to enjoy overall skin rejuvenation and transformation. Our patients are extremely pleased with the results they can achieve with several sessions and are urged to continue treatment to enjoy all the benefits of photorejuvenation and vascular laser treatments.

Can injectables be used with these treatments?

Laser therapies are an incredibly popular option for patients at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology. It is common for Drs. Mary Lupo and Skylar Souyoul to encourage patients to combine different therapies for dramatic results.
