QWO Cellulite

QWO is “wowing” many patients across the country, and Dr. Mary Lupo at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology in New Orleans, LA was chosen as one of the first physicians to use this breakthrough product! Qwo is the first and only FDA-approved injectable to treat cellulite dimpling. Dr. Lupo served as a principal investigator during QWO’s FDA clinical trial, and she is thrilled to offer this innovative product to the many patients who are embarrassed or lack confidence in their appearance due to cellulite.

CELLULITE: A COMMON CONDITION NOW TREATED WITH A STATE-OF-THE-ART PRODUCT

QWO Treatment Logo It’s estimated that nine out of every ten women will develop cellulite. There are many myths associated with cellulite: it’s caused by extra pounds, an unhealthy diet, or a sedentary lifestyle. The truth is, none of these factors play a role in cellulite lumps and bumps. While strenuous exercise and a nutritious diet play an important role in fitness and overall wellness, these healthy habits will not smooth the skin. Cellulite is caused by the genetic makeup of the fibrous septae bands under the skin, and when these bands have a strong pull on the skin it causes the dimpling, “cottage cheese” appearance.

QWO targets the cause of cellulite: the fibrous septae bands. During the procedure, Dr. Lupo injects QWO directly into the cellulite dimples where the fibrous septae are located. Formulated with the collagenases enzyme, QWO destroys the bands within the dimpled areas. During the succeeding weeks and months following treatment, fat at the injection site is “remodeled.” A smoother, firmer appearance at the skin’s surface is revealed.

WHAT TO EXPECT: BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER QWO

Patients at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology appreciate that QWO is:
  • Quick – Can be completed in as little as 10 minutes.
  • Painless – A small needle is used to inject the product, so patients tolerate it well and no special preparation or numbing is necessary.
  • Not complicated – A full treatment can be completed in three sessions, spaced at least 21 days apart.
  • Low-risk – Common side effects are generally limited to painless bruising. As the bad bands are destroyed, small blood vessels within the fibrous septae leak and cause bruises that typically subside around two weeks after the first treatment. Often, bruises are less evident with each additional treatment session.
  • No downtime – Get back to your workday or other activities without missing a beat!
  • Tried & True – While this is the first treatment of its kind, QWO was studied in more than 1,800 women. The results from the women in the clinical trial have been long-lasting, and FDA data shows results through a year.

Although cellulite is very common, it can often be mistaken for skin laxity, which cannot be treated with QWO. During a consultation, Dr. Lupo will be able to determine if the dimpling is cellulite or sagging skin. To do this, she simply lifts the skin above the dimple. If the indentation goes away, it is an indicator that there is lax skin and not cellulite. If this is the case, she will recommend a skin tightening device or Sculptra injectable filler.

Women looking for an effective and safe cellulite treatment near them in New Orleans are in luck! Cost varies per each patient’s needs and the exact price will be given during the consultation. QWO Cellulite Treatment

QWO Cellulite Treatment
QWO (pronounced like “whoa”) is a new FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment to reduce cellulite.

Hi everyone, we’re getting a lot of question about QWO which is the first FDA-approved treatment for cellulite that is totally non-invasive. So, first of all, to answer few of the questions that we’ve already gotten, the first was; can we use it on the thighs? And the answer is yes, we can use this in any area that has cellulite. What I would comment is that an evaluation must be done. Because a lot of people think they have cellulite but what they really have is skin laxity. So, you need a thorough examination to determine the cause of the surface irregularities. But if it is indeed cellulite, injecting QWO into the band that is puckering the skin downward and dissolving that band will indeed improve cellulite in any location it occurs. Now, another question is the duration of benefit. Well, we have data for well over a year out that demonstrates improvement, and beyond that we can’t really promise patients the extent of improvement beyond a year. But a year and my guess is that we might get more than a year. You have to realize that improvement is just that; improvement. It doesn’t necessarily mean perfection. You may need subsequent treatments down the line a couple of years later. Another question has been, do I need to be in my ideal weight before I can get this treatment? And the answer is no you do not. Cellulite has very little to do with actual weight, in fact there can be very thin people in shape who suffer from cellulite. It is more hereditary and hormonal, than it is actually from weight problem. There are people who are overweight who don’t have significant cellulite. So, you can come with whatever weight you feel you are, and we can treat you as is. So, we are going to go ahead and do a quick treatment. Now, what we like to do with QWO is we like to get it to the center if the indentation and then we do 3 sticks and those sticks break up the collagen band, it is actually collagenase, and what’s interesting about QWO and people may not realize this, is that the product is already FDA-approved and has been found to be very safe and effective and being on the market already for several years for other indications. The other indications that it is used for is a condition called Dupuytren’s Contracture. Dupuytren’s Contracture is a fibrous band in the flexor tendons in the arm, excuse me in the hand, and it causes scar tissue, and that scar tissue causes the hand to curl down. That’s one indication, the other is that is used for Peroneus disease when the patient has an irregular curve to the penis. Now, another thing I think that people need to realize and be prepared for, is that in these little fibrous glands, are little micro vascular blood vessels. These blood vessels are disrupted when the collagen band is disrupted and what’s important about that is that you are going to have some bruising. So, you need to be prepared for bruising, it kind of looks like someone hit you with a baseball bat, and that is God’s truth. So, you need to be prepare for that and not be overly alarmed.

I’ve been injected by several physicians over the years and Dr Lupo is the best. She gave me an eyebrow lift with filler and it looks like I had surgery.
