What causes warts?

While not dangerous, wars are contagious. Adults may be extremely self-conscious about them and may ask their dermatologist about effective ways of treating warts. Warts can also be uncomfortable, bothersome, or painful. In situations such as these, patients will benefit from wart removal. Medication
Medication called cantharidin can be applied to warts to deaden them. They will blister underneath and they can then be removed by a dermatologist approximately one week later.
Freezing
Dr. Lupo offers cryotherapy, which freezes the warts and removes them immediately. This is the most common method for removing warts and the most popular.
Burning
An alternative to cryotherapy is electrosurgery, which requires the burning off of the wart. The wart will be heated and scraped off by the dermatologist for immediate removal.
While there are several methods of wart removal, patients need to understand that warts will still reappear. This is because warts shed the HPV virus and can cause new warts to grow. There is no cure for warts, but managing them with a dermatologist is the best method to reduce their appearance and restore a patient’s self-esteem and confidence.
