Sclerotherapy is an injectable treatment that eliminates unsightly, superficial spider veins. When the vein is destroyed, blood is rerouted to other healthier veins without disrupting blood flow.
Foam sclerotherapy is a specialized form of sclerotherapy that is best utilized for blue feeder (reticular) veins that feed smaller spider veins. Asclera is the only FDA-approved detergent sclerosant that can be foamed to achieve greater destruction of dilated veins.
