Dear Dr. Lupo:
I am on Retin A and seeing improvement of my skin texture. I understand there are procedures that should be avoided while on Retin A. Is microdermabrasion safe? I have a special occasion and I would like to look great.

Dear Meg:
Light chemical peels and one of my favorites, SilkPeel Dermal Infusion, which is a special type of light mechanical surface abrasion plus dermal infusion are great for those on Retin A to enhance the results quickly. I usually recommend that you discontinue the Retin A one week before chemical peel to prevent the acid from penetrating deeper than expected.

| When women and men are interested in reversing the signs of facial aging, the first word or treatment that usually comes to mind is "Botox." While a Botox treatment is very beneficial for most patients seeking a fresh appearance, it is only half of the solution for overall facial rejuvenation.
