Dear Faye:
There are many knowledgeable professionals that can give basic skin care advice to someone who has normal skin and who is having no issues. If, however, you suffer from severe dryness, seborrheic dermatitis, rapid skin aging, acne or rosacea, I firmly believe the best guidance comes from a board certified dermatologist who has a particular interest in the skin care field. There is always emerging technology to help with problems like breakouts, redness and pigmentation. My advice is always to bring your current products in and let us evaluate your skin, its needs and design an individualized skin care regime to achieve better looking, healthier skin.

Dr. Lupo Named
"Mentor of the Year"

 Dr. Mary Lupo has been named "Mentor of the Year" by the Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS), the largest group of women dermatologists in the world.
Dr. Lupo, who is a former president of the WDS, is being recognized for her generosity of teaching residents and fellows through the WDS mentorship program. She also mentors residents through her participation in the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Preceptor Program and the Cosmetic Bootcamp University program. In 2013, Dr. Lupo welcomed 12 students into her practice and gave them the opportunity to shadow her while treating patients. She also teaches the residents at the Tulane Residents' Cosmetic Clinic, which she started as chief resident in 1983.
Dr. Lupo will receive the "Mentor of the Year" award at the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting in Denver on March 23, 2014.
