Skin Tightening

With age and exposure to the sun’s harmful rays and environmental pollutants, collagen and elastin break down quicker leading to wrinkles, folds and sagging skin. Our skin tightening treatments can reverse the signs of aging from the thin delicate skin around the eyes to loose, uneven skin on the body that diet and exercise can’t get rid of.

Skin tightening technology has been available at the Lupo Center since 2004, and since then, we have upgraded our devices to provide our patients with the safest and most effective technology on the market. Our skin tightening treatments use radiofrequency, which allows the body to rebuild its own collagen for a natural renewal process without surgery or downtime. The radiofrequency technology works below the skin’s surface to target aging at its core without damaging the top layer of skin.

At the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology, patients have seen great results from our skin tightening treatments:
  • Eyes – hooding, fine lines and uneven brow lines can be treated to create a more youthful and rested appearance
  • Face – “turkey neck”, loose jowls and sagging skin can be tightened and smoothed for a healthier, younger look
  • Body – crepey, sagging skin and unwanted bulges and dimples are smoothed out for a toner looking midsection, arms or legs
A skin tightening treatment is a great option for patients in their 40's who want to reverse early skin changes in order to postpone or prevent the need for surgery as well as for women whose bodies didn’t bounce back after childbirth. It’s also a great option after liposuction to tighten any ridges or ripples.

Skin Tightening Treatment explained by Dr. Mary Lupo

Skin Tightening Treatment explained by Dr. Mary Lupo
In this video Dr. Mary Lupo from Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology New Orleans, LA explains what are the products used for Skin Tightening Treatments at their practice. To know more about skin tightening treatments and how it works call Dr. Mary Lupo at Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology New Orleans, LA today to fix your appointment.

How does skin tightening work?

Skin tightening is usually done with devices that bypass the top layer of the skin and penetrate to a deeper level to stimulate deeper collagen stimulation and tightening of the skin.

What are the products that you use for skin tightening procedures?

The ones that we use in our office are the Thermage, the Exilis pro, the radiofrequency micro-needling device, so we use three that’s primarily for tightening.

The Thermage and the Exilis Pro are the most popular and the reason is there is absolutely no downtime with either of those.

The radiofrequency micro-needling, there is a bit of downtime with that, but Thermage and Exilis there is none.

Are the procedures safe and affordable?

The difference is it is kind of like, the Fraxel is more aggressive, than the Clear and Brilliant and you have to do a series of Clear and Brilliant, the Thermage is a more intense treatment, you do one and then wait three months for the results. Exilis, you do a series of them every couple of weeks over that three-month period to achieve the results.

The Exilis per treatment is less expensive, so it is sort of like a layaway plan, you pay on it as you go. And I think the Exilis hurts a little bit less than the Thermage because its intensity is less.

Are treatments optional?

We try to work with the patient and understand. If we have a working woman, she might want to go with Thermage, because she doesn't have the time to come here every two weeks just for 46 treatments.

Some people, don't work, and like the idea of coming in and the treatment been less expensive, and they sort of pay as they go if you will.

Exilis Elite

Mary P. Lupo, M.D

Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology.

One of the most popular buzzwords in nonsurgical rejuvenation these days is skin tightening. At the Lupo center we are using the Exilis Elite, which is a 90 watt radio frequency device that is Monopolar. We use this device for a no downtime skin tightening, the beauty of the BTL Exilis Elite device is that it can be used on any part of the body. We use it on the face, obviously - to define the jaw line. We use it on the neck to improve laxity, we also use it on the back of the hands for crapey-ness, we use it on the chest for décolletage lines. We also use it on the knees, because many women find as they age their knees get a little baggy and saggy. We have used it on elbows.

So it is a very very versatile device. It has a different head that also has fat reduction so with one treatment in the abdomen, we can not only reduce the fat we can also tighten the skin at the same time. This is a perfect procedure to do after having a baby to loosen lax skin and to get rid of those last little fat pockets that sometimes remain.

Dr. Lupo discusses the benefits of Skin Tightening (Ulthera)

Dr. Lupo discusses the benefits of Ulthera

You know I had a lot of questions from my colleagues about Ulthera – and how it fits into my practice because they know I am a huge Excilis fan and I still use my Excilis even though I have Ultherapy and I place it this way. Ultherapy is for a patient who wants something much more aggressive, and don’t mind having to be numbed with a needle in order to be relieved of the pain because it is a painful procedure and it really can’t be tolerate without the injections but I do have patients that need a one treatment for 6 month results so I can offer them either one treatment of the Ultherapy or 4 to 6 treatments with the Excilis over that 6 month period and I am getting pretty comparable results.

So Ultherapy is an option for people who want one treatment perhaps they are too busy to come in from the series, and Ultherapy is FDA approved for brow lift it tends to work very very well there for people who don’t want Botox for brow lift, and of course again all of my patients are patients who want a result non-surgically they don’t want a knife involved at all. They will often tolerate a needle, but they won’t tolerate a knife. So Ultherapy is another tool for me – I like to tailor my treatment protocols to what my patients need and want – not necessarily what I have only. So I try to have everything that they need and so it is just yet another device that I have added to my practice – that has been received well but it has by no means eliminated Excilis in my practice.

Review From Vanessa V.
Dr. Lupo is truly amazing. This was my first time with filler and not only did she ease my fears but also gave me the most beautiful result. She used just enough to accentuate the contours of my lips and face. Also, she used a product on me called Aqua Gold which gave me wonderful results. The tone, texture, firmness, and overall appearance of my skin was greatly improved. When I left her i felt absolutely FLAWLESS! I highly highly recommend her and her team!
