Drs. Mary Lupo and Nina Hartman of the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology know how the appearance of the skin can impact one's self esteem and confidence. When dealing with imperfections, such as poor skin texture and tone, the early signs of aging, or pigmentation problems, patients have a few choices to select from for restoring a healthy and youthful look. Many patients ask about a treatment available at our office known as Morpheus8 RF microneedling.

What exactly is the Morpheus8 RF microneedling treatment?

Morpheus8 RF microneedling treatment as a combination of fractional radiofrequency (RF) energy and microneedling. This minimally invasive procedure targets the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating one's natural collagen production to improve skin texture, elasticity, and overall appearance.

How does radiofrequency microneedling treatment work?

During the treatment, tiny needles are used to penetrate the skin and deliver the radiofrequency into the skin. We can customize the depth and RF energy depending on the thickness of the skin and the severity of the condition we're treating. This process stimulates the body's natural healing process, leading to the production of new collagen and elastin. The heat from the RF energy also tightens existing collagen fibers, allowing for smoother and firmer skin.

What are the benefits of the Morpheus8 RF microneedling treatment?

There are several advantages to this particular treatment, including the following:
  • Improved skin texture and tone
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightening of sagging skin
  • Reduction of scarring, including acne scars
  • Improvement of overall skin health and appearance

Who can undergo radiofrequency microneedling treatment at our office?

The Morpheus8 RF microneedling procedure is suitable for all skin types and is performed on various body areas, including the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and abdomen. It is safe for most patients, including those with darker skin or sensitive skin. However, pregnant women and those with pacemakers should avoid this treatment. During a consultation visit with Drs. Mary Lupo or Nina Hartman, patients can learn more about Morpheus8 RF microneedling and if they are the right candidate for the treatment.

What can I expect during and after the Morpheus8 RF microneedling procedure?

The treatment itself typically takes around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. A topical or injectable anesthetic can be used prior to the treatment to minimize any potential discomfort. After the treatment, some redness, swelling, and mild bruising might happen, but these effects should subside within a few days. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities following the treatment.

When will I notice results?

Results from Morpheus8 RF microneedling can be seen as quickly as 1 week following the treatment; however, collagen will continue to build for 4-6 weeks, with improvements being seen as long as 6 months after the treatment. For optimal results, patients may need a series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart.

Am I a good fit for treatment?
