Often times when people think of old age, they think of wrinkled skin. However, not all lines and wrinkles come with more candles on your birthday cake. Facial lines that are caused by muscle movement can begin to form in young adults in their twenties. This common skin condition can leave many adults feeling self-conscious about their appearance because their skin is aging faster than they are. One treatment that Dr. Lupo at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology in New Orleans offer patients who are interested in treating facial lines is XEOMIN®.
Approved by the FDA in 2011, XEOMIN® temporarily improves moderate to severe facial lines without changing the look of the whole face. XEOMIN® contains botulinum toxin type A, a substance that has been shown to prevent the ongoing contractions that occur in the facial muscles that create expressions. Applied directly to these muscles, the product blocks transmissions in nerve endings, thus temporarily smoothing the skin for a more relaxed, more youthful appearance.
When injected by one of our experienced and board certified dermatologists, XEOMIN® provides a more refreshed look that is never “overdone” but rather well done. Our physicians are well-versed in facial anatomy, which affords them the knowledge necessary to achieve the most natural results. Unlike plastic surgery, XEOMIN® does not involve anesthesia, cutting of the skin or downtime after the treatment. It is a quick and easy procedure, and patients can go about their regular day afterwards. Throughout the week that follows treatment, lines and wrinkles become much less noticeable. Longevity varies from person to person but, on average, results last about four months.
Before any treatment, Dr. Lupo consult with patients and perform an extensive medical background evaluation to determine if they are proper candidates for XEOMIN® injections.
