Everyone’s facial structure is different including their lip shape and size. “Ideal lips” are proportionate to one’s overall facial structure, where the ideal upper lip is usually about 40% of the total height of the lips and the bottom lip is about 60% of the total height. In order to achieve ideal lips, some people may benefit from lip enhancement with Restylane® Silk.

In 2014, the FDA cleared Restylane® Silk as the first product to enhance the mouth area by increasing the volume of patients’ lips and smoothing wrinkles. This injectable filler is a protective and lubricating gel made of a hyaluronic acid, which is produced naturally by the body. In its FDA clinical study, patients needed one or two injections of Restylane® Silk over a period of two weeks to achieve the best lip volume and wrinkle appearance. The effect lasts about six months in most patients.

Restylane® Silk’s unique, refined formulation is specially designed for precise lip shaping and for smoothing the lines around the mouth to create a natural look. Restylane® Silk contains 0.3% lidocaine to reduce any discomfort during the treatment.

So let’s talk about lips, ya know lips are always a focal point of interest, it is certainly a sign of femininity in women, and women like to do things that make their lips look better no there are 2 way to approach the lips. One is volumizing. Volatizing is when you actually want the lips to look larger. In my practice, my preferred volumizers are Juvéderm Ultra XC this is a wonderful on lasting hyaluronic acid that I use safety in the lip are to improve the lips by augmenting or increasing the size. One of the newest things that we have that is FDA approved no since October of 2014, is Hyaluronic acid filler called Restylane Sylk. I use it and recommend it to other physicians and to patients if they are looking for refined improvement of the lips without significant augmentation because lips that don’t need to be enlarged still need to be defined, so Restylane Sylk almost acts like a lip gloss and a lip liner to define the lips that you have and it gives a very natural result. Patients who are not looking for bigger lips but are looking for defined lips, Restylane Sylk is my go to!
