CoolTouch

Dr. Lupo uses the 3rd generation, most advanced CoolTouch CT3 Plus™ to treat active inflammatory acne and the scarring this type of acne can cause. CoolTouch CT3 Plus™ is FDA approved for mild wrinkles, acne scars and active acne. It is a non-ablative skin treatment used to treat active acne, aging skin and reduce acne scarring. CoolTouch CT3 Plus™ is safe on all areas of the face and body and for all skin types because it is a “color-blind” laser. The wavelength of laser light utilized in CT3 Plus is in the near-infrared range. CoolTouch CT3 Plus™ laser energy passes through the epidermis into the dermis where collagen is formed, while the surface skin is protected from heating by a cooling cryogen spray. The heat from the laser energy in the dermis gently stimulates collagen production to improve skin texture, lines and acne scars. CoolTouch CT3 Plus™ also targets and heats the sebaceous (oil) glands in the dermis which are the cause of acne. When the sebaceous glands are heated they shrink and less of the acne-causing oil is produced. The lipids in the skin needed for healthy skin are not affected. Patients who are looking for an alternative to oral antibiotics or Accutane may consider CoolTouch CT3 Plus™ as another treatment option. Although a cooling spray is used during treatment, Dr. Lupo recommends a topical anesthetic be applied to enhance patient comfort. The CoolTouch CT3 Plus™ protocol is 3-6 sessions, performed once a month. There is no down time and makeup may be applied immediately after treatment.
