Botox Injections New Orleans: Wrinkle Reduction - Related FAQ's
Q. Is there a waiting period between getting Botox injections after finishing Medrol 4 mg pack? I recently had poison ivy and was put on this medication for 6 days, taking 6 (4mg) pills on day one, 5 on day 2, 4 on day three, etc. I am not sure how long I should wait since this suppresses the immune system. Any thoughts or suggestions?
A. I would recommend you wait at least 3 days. The Medrol can increase bruising, and theoretically increase your risk of infection, but good antiseptic technique (which is always important with all injectables) should prevent any infection.
Q. How much does it cost to get a vial of Botox?
A. Botox Cosmetic comes in two sized vials: 50 units and 100 units. Botox is a tool used by board certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons to improve facial lines and sagging caused by the pull and contraction of certain muscles. Botox is worthless until it is skillfully injected in just the right amount and in just the right spot. Most doctors buy the 100 unit vial which is $525.00. Very few people need the entire vial. The average woman needs 35 units in 2-3 areas (men have stronger, thicker muscles and need much more). Depending on the physician's other cost of goods (rent, employees, examination chairs, needles, syringes, topical anesthetic, etc, etc.), the cost to you for that reputable board certified physician expert to inject 35 units is around $500.00-700.00 across the US. If you ever hear of really cheap Botox ($8.00 per unit), be aware that it is either a teaching institution where residents are practicing to learn the technique, or the doctor is importing illegal neurotoxin that is likely not Botox and therefore not tested by the FDA for purity, safety, and efficacy. Finally, less busy, but legitimate practices, might offer discount Botox days to get rid of old product rather than throw it away
