Sometimes the problem is the teeth and for that a cosmetic dentist is the best option. For most patients, however, very carefully placed Botox can improve an asymmetrical smile. The key is to know exactly where to place the right number of units. I recommend a board certified dermatologist who does a lot of this procedure.

A. The platysma muscle pulls the face downward. Microinjections of Botox along the jaw line and upper neck help neutralize the downward pull and help define and lift drooping jowls. In addition, the depressor anguloris oris is a muscle that pulls the mouth corner down and accentuates the jowls. The mentalis muscle pulls the mid chin up and makes the jowls look worse, so by injecting both of these muscles, the jowls get lifted. These Botox injections can complement other procedures such as Exilis or Ulthera skin tightening, or filler injections along the jaw line for further lift.
